Fargo, N.D. (AP) The wife of a Fargo man serving an 18-month sentence for a Red River Valley Fairgrounds brawl has asked for help from a Michigan group.
Mevludin Hidanovic's (MEV-luh-din hih-DON'-oh-vik's) wife, Chanda, says the nonprofit group called "Innocent," based in Muskegon, Michigan, is helping her campaign to free her husband.
She says public awareness is a key.
Hidanovic has filed an appeal with the North Dakota Supreme Court. He claims he was mistakenly identified as a rioter on the fairgrounds last fall. He's a native of Bosnia, and could be deported for his conviction of engaging in a riot while armed.
Chanda Hidanovic says she researched several organizations and filled out applications asking for their help.
Hidanovic, who moved to Fargo in 1999, and his family maintain that he was with them on the opposite side of the fairgrounds when the brawl broke out last June. |
